Use a vacuum with a hepa filter to remove surface mold. You can therefore stick to a mild cleaning solution a simple mixture of dishwashing detergent. Then vigorously wipe the furniture with a sponge or washcloth. To clean mildew or mold mix a squirt or two of dishwashing detergent and some warm water.

Wash down sealed or painted wood if the mold has grown on painted wood like an interior door or a sealed wood finish like floors begin by washing down with a liquid dishwashing detergent and water solution. You may need to repeat this process several times before the affected areas are completely clean. Use a soft bristled brush to scrub down the surface. Mix one tablespoon of detergent to one quart of water.

Disinfect your furniture by mixing 1 cup of bleach for every 5 cups of hot water in a bucket. If the mold is extremely resistant try sanding it away with sandpaper. If the wood you re dealing with is either painted or stained that means the mold has not penetrated. The bleach will kill the mold and mildew so you should not see any signs of it after this stage.

Use a soft bristled brush dip it in the soapy solution and gently scrub the moldy surface. To remove stubborn mold scrub the furniture down with a detergent or bleach solution using a stiff bristled brush. Use a white rag to wipe down the furniture where the mold and mildew are. Scrape or brush the pressed wood to remove as many of the mold spores as possible.

If you re removing mildew from a piece of indoor wooden furniture use a water filled spray bottle paying special attention to the mildew laden areas. Wear goggles a mask and gloves to protect you from the mold. Mix water and a non ammonia detergent together and scrub the entire surface.
